Etsy Desktop Homepage

Etsy is a very fun and unique website that allows people to buy and sell many things. Its interface is relatively simple and similar to other websites that sell things. The above picture depicts the desktop version of Etsy. The website contains a constant navigation bar with a search bar and various dropdown menus to explore. Like sites such as Amazon, Etsy uses its homepage to display many different items and categories. The website will show you personalized rows of things a user views or other items a user may be interested in.

After clicking on an item the site uses a standard format for buyers. The site shows a carousel of pictures and all the information necessary is placed on the right with reviews below.

The mobile version appears to be very similar to the desktop version. However instead of crowding the top with different navigation options, the mobile version contains only the essential search bar, sign in, and cart options. All other categories are then place into a side pullout menu that opens when tapping on the three lines at the top left. This is a very useful change the company implemented because it does not overcrowd the small screen and appears more simplified. The rest of the mobile version looks to be a scaled down system of the desktop. For instance, the homepage is changed from a row of six columns to a two row and three column system. All other items appear with a simple scroll up or down option.

Ultimately, Etsy still depicts all the same options and navigation items in the mobile version of their website. It does a good job of scaling down the various images and maintaining a sensible format from desktop to mobile. Besides the pull out menu, all navigation and buying options remain the same and are very simple for the user to go between.
